Two locations, one shared line.
OMC Amstelland is an eye clinic in Diemen, near Amsterdam, with two locations and one shared phone line. The front desk also checks patients in. At peak times and after 5 PM, a third of calls went unanswered, and half of the people who reached voicemail never called back.
The clinic forwarded its existing number to Optavius. Booking, rescheduling, order status and store information were configured in the first week, together with a red-flag pathway approved by the medical director. Optavius was live in under two weeks.
What changed.
Every call is now answered on the first ring, even fifty at once. More than six in ten calls are completed end to end without staff: information, order status and bookings. Urgent symptoms reach the on-call ophthalmologist in seconds, with a summary.
The numbers come from 8,420 incoming calls during May and June 2026. Callers who used to hang up now book, and after-hours callers book too. Appointments booked rose by 23 percent, and the front desk got back around 170 hours a month.
“It knows the difference between a contact lens consult and a reorder. Our front desk finally has time for the patient standing in front of them.”
